every day, every night.... in that old familiar light

Julia and I went out into the antarctican wildnerness (also known as new york city) in search of some sweets. we found it!

I am really happy to be featured in Lula Magazine's Spring/Summer issue. It comes out soon (probably next month..?) so try to get one!

The interview was fun too. Thanks to everybody at Lula!

And now for a studio update(??)(!): i am this close [------] from finishing a painting that has been resisting the notion of being finished. it is 10 feet tall!

i was in great spirits and went to hang out with two of my favorites, paul and divya

paul painted his legs white!!!

divya got this awesome pink phone after losing her old one in a cab

here she is hanging out on my couch

until next time, friends!

so i went to heaven--and after like 5 minutes i was like lets GO

THE PAST FEW DAYS....
have been pretty standard.

Last week I hung out with ellen and rode the R train to her place in brooklyn!

THEN! Spent time at my studio, i love it there and have been making lots of paintings

some small, some really really BIG

Last night was a lunar eclipse. A bunch of us went on the roof of the studio building here on 125th street, and i attempted to document the moment.

...not quite captured in the photo. it looked like there was a war going on on the moon. all red and glowing.

I painted it!

half hours on earth- what are they worth? i dont know

Enjoy!
The Highwaymen's Silver Stallion (the only other time i've seen whatever the haircut is called that willie nelson has here, which seems to me a combo of a few, equally remarkable styles, was in a diner on the side of the road on route 66, right where arizona draws a line into california. it had the same bushy tail part, but more of a coiffed top)

Cat Power's Metal Heart. (in other news, her cover of the highwaymen's silver stallion (on jukebox) is BEAUUUUUTIFUL)

AND, not forgetting Glenn Danzig ... talking about... his book collection! And demons. And Jesus. (My question is, first, where is he? a dungeon? why is he kneeling by candlelight? I would ask second, why is his shirt off? but then id be an idiot because when is his shirt NOT off? see "Mother" video)

Hello!

Greetings-

I was reading so many blogs lately I thought I'd see about one myself. And for TODAY'S FAVORITES LIST:(!!!)

1. Loves of a Blonde(1965, dir. Milos Forman)
It seems there's somewhat of a revival tour for Mr. Forman here in NYC.. they're screening him at MoMA and the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where I saw this earlier tonight. The pressure was on since I remembered loving it when I was 19... and I went with friends who didn't know of it other than my grand descriptions of it being "completely amazing and so tender". Luckily for everybody, this was true and I liked it even better this time.

2. Galaxie 500
I know I'm probably really late on this, but bands that exist in the constellation of music that sort-of sounds like Jesus and Mary Chain can be really really fun to discover. Listening to them reminds me of when I first heard the album Loveless by My Bloody Valentine, and didn't stop listening to it for about 3 weeks.

3. Free Latte!
I finally used one of the myriad of fully stamped "free coffee" cards in my wallet. For some reason, I save them all up for the hypothetical day when I will want to order something extraordinary like an an extra- large mocha cappuccino with caramel or something. Alas, the day still hasn't come when I have any such desire, so I just used it for the usual... you know... one of those vanilla bullshits or whatever it is they have. Coffee with milk.
